And Three Shires Head"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This evening sees my 2025 North East Cheshire Lawn Tennis League get underway, so I chose a shortish, familiar route for my walk on this splendidly sunny day with a perfect temperature for walking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I took an extended walk over some of this ground on 1st April 2021 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-half-day-walker wp-block-embed-half-day-walker\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"jDxGr1tYSD\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.half-daywalker.com\/?p=1003349\">Three Shires Head or Three Shire Heads?<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Three of the route before, it is a joy to regularly revisit this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This walk is a 40 minute drive from Cheadle Hulme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is just 5 miles but has a bit of a kick with 1000feet of ascent .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It took 2 hours 45 minutes to complete, plus 15 minutes for lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this time of year, the moors are alive with nesting birds and sheep with lambs, so definitely a dogs on a lead walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I walked in a clockwise direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The walk is on OS Explorer Map OL24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I parked at class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clough House To Three Shires Head<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I made my way towards the familiar Cumberland Brook path, with the monolith that is \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the head of the valley, the path splits and I crossed the brook, enjoying a final view down the valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The path crosses the moor, rising steadily before crossing the A54 and descending to the headwaters of the River Dane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The path enters the valley and it&#8217;s only a short walk to the pretty tourist trap of Three Shires Head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 Here, I stopped awhile to watch a beautiful male wheatear resting in a field on his journey to northern breeding grounds &#8211; a stunning bird.
