Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a trip to Yorkshire this afternoon, I just had time to enjoy a really local walk this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rain stopped as I set out, though the sun never quite appeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drive to the walk is just 5 minutes from Cheadle Hulme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took me 2 hours to complete the 5.7 mile walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The walk is excellent for dog walking, mainly on good paths and tracks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I walked in an anticlockwise direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The walk is on OS Explorer Map 268.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I parked at the pull-in at the bottom of Happy Valley, on Bridge Lane, postcode SK7 2NN, What 3 Words \/\/\/caked.search.holly<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Happy Valley To A555<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I set off along the path which follows Lady Brook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a very pretty path through the mature trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just before reaching the footbridge, I turned right on another well made track and then pass along the front of Bramhall High School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After passing through a housing estate (including passing the house we almost bought in Westby Close in 1980!) the route enters open countryside. Here, there are grand houses and horses that evoke a different lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The track then runs alongside the manicured fairways of Bramhall Golf Club before reaching Woodford Road and the A555.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poynton Pool<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As I walk down Lower Park Road (actually it’s a track, not a road), it is evident that the expanding boundary of Poynton will inevitably swallow up these last remaining fields in the not too distant future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After crossing Poynton Brook at Phillips Bridge, I skirt a housing estate. The road is lined by more splendid autumnal trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crossing the B5092, I arrive at the pretty Poynton Pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am greeted by a great crested grebe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It really is a splendidly photogenic place, teeming with birdlife!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Happy Valley<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Leaving the poolside, I re-cross the road, and then Poynton Brook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doggy day care centre was having a busy outdoor play session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I passed under the A555, and then Millhill Bridge over Lady Brook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The path follows a field edge with more very old trees on the field boundary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The path then joins the bank of the brook. The stepping stones are just about navigable, but I didn’t cross!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a very pretty walk down here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, I emerged back into suburbia, and a short stroll down Bridge Lane to the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suburbs continue to encroach on the green spaces round here, but this walk shows that there is still plenty to enjoy if you have a couple of hours to spare!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We saw The Cat Empire at The Albert Hall this week. A very upbeat evening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
